Welcome new members!

I just wanted welcome all the new members this week. The pictures of the plane crash on Sheridan Lake have drawn quite a few people to the site. Make yourself at home and feel free to introduce yourself.

I thought I would give you a little back ground on me and the site:

My name is Shawn and I’m going with the user name Shawnn. A few years back I was really into web design and I setup popular forums on free to air satellite. It was shut down by DirecTV and the CRT a few years back. I really enjoyed running the site and meeting people online with my same interest. My parents purchased a place on Sheridan Lake four years ago and we really like the area and we spend most our free time up there. Over Christmas holidays (2008) at the cabin the subject came up about my old site and what happened to it. (I’m not the only computer geek in the Family) I still have a domain server running for my work site www.nytech.ca and still had the forums software. I decided to set it up again as a hobby project with my wife. My intent is to meet a few people online and in person in an area and help others do the same. So far things are going well with the site! I have a few friends online and meet a few online friends in person such as Rob and Kiwi.

As some of you know that Jennifer (my wife) and I had a baby boy named Evan. He is nine weeks old as of this post and takes up all of our spare time. I have had no time to work on the site at all. I’m still verifying new users so we don’t have any spam problems but it seems for every one valid use, we have twenty spammers. It takes a bit of time to verify the real users. Kiwi is giving me a hand checking for spammers. (Thanks big time Kiwi)I try to check for new users every couple of days and send off a confirmation email to users that look legit. If you are a new user and can’t post, please be patient as I will get to you in a day or two.
